This alumnus of Delhi School of Economics minutely studied the performance of Chemical companies all over the world and started his own proprietorship firm Shubham Dyes and Chemicals (SDC) in the year 1989. In the year 2001, SDC was converted in Shubham Chemicals and Solvents Limited (SCSL) and he was appointed as Managing Director of the Company. Under his guidance the company is now one of the largest industrial chemical importing company providing raw materials to the domestic manufacturers.
In the year 2006, he joined Modern Public School as Chairman & Managing Director which is a 1971 established Senior Secondary School in Shalimar Bagh. He believes that there’s nothing more rewarding than giving back to the society and making a difference in the lives of people. Due to his vision and commitment, the School has been listed in the Forbes magazine as one of the “The Great Indian Schools 2018”.
He has always laid enormous stress on the people power and believes that a highly motivated team can lead growth to dizzying heights. A vast section of the manpower today has built their careers around the growth of the Group itself over the years. It has achieved considerable growth in leaps and bounds and employs more than 500 people. Several first time best practices initiated by Mr. Kapur have become established processes in the industry.
In Sept. 2019 Mr. Ajay Kapur recieved the prestigious "Times Power Icons 2019" Award for his exemplary contribution in the field of import and distribution of industrial chemicals in India.
He received the prestigious "Innovative Business Leader of Asia" award for Excellence in Business Development at the 16th South Asian Excellence Awards- 2018 organised by the Global Leaders Foundation during the 02nd Indo- Bhutan Friendship Summit held on 20th June 2018 at Thimphu, Bhutan.
Under his leadership, Shubham Group has won many awards for its performance in different segments. SCSL won “Excellence Award for Achieving Highest Sales” in an award ceremony held at Kuala Lumpur.
Being one of the largest importers of Phenol, in his interview with the Dollar Business magazine, he gave a detailed insight on the current market scenario of Phenol and the issues faced due to low storage capacities at ports which have helped a lot of aspiring importers and exporters.
He is a passionate learner and ardent believer in hard work and commitment. He is a member of Business Coaching India (BCI) and RISERS Group and makes sure to attend all workshops, seminars and conferences to keep himself updated with the market developments, new technologies, new product range and its usage. He implements all the learning and processes in his personal life and in all his companies.
